owl mosaic

I printed  pictures of owls ( kids could draw, but they are 3 and 4 and I wanted them to really focus on decorating and putting together the mosaic). We used pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds, star-shaped
seeds of star anise, some beads and feathers and tissue paper for the background.

Recycled art project: an autumn tree

Old newspaper, tissue paper, buttons and plastic caps. Nice colour of construction paper (I love deep blue) and some chalk passtels.

Rousseau's jungle

I found some photos in one of my old files.
We did this project two years ago. I prepared paper
leaves, flowers, trees and animals.
I had to cut everything out,
my students were to small to do it by themeselves.
We started from  Rousseau's artworks.
We talked about colours, plants and animlas.
And then everybody created his own little jungle...:)

Ideas for a new preschool year

Looking forward to starting a new preschool year, I search for some nice ideas of crafts for little artists.
I found this   DIY cork sailboat in a jar    I'm going to try this project with the preschoolers. Winding the threat around the corks would be too difficult for 3,4-year-old children, so we'll make smaller boats, just from half of a cork. Smaller boats also means  that I don't need 150 corks (I have about 50 kids) but only 25:).

Another really nice ideas:

Mother's Day project

This year Mums will get something special.:).
We prepared  picture frames for them. Kids stuck the pieces of newspapers on the paper frames. Then they decorated the frames with felt hearts, string, beads etc. Each of my kids had a photo with a big red paper heart. I turned the photos to black and white, while keeping hearts red. I can't show ready frames (with photos of my kids) but believe me, the effect was very interesting:)

OVER IN THE MEADOW

We started from drawing grass, flowers and insects. We used oil pastels. I encouraged kids to draw separate stalks rather than grass as a one piece. Then I mixed some ink and water, children painted with large brushes. Then put some drops of  ink on still very wet works. Children were surprised by the effect of spreading drops of ink.
